Intraosseous (IO) Placement and Fluid Management: Master the techniques for establishing IO access when IV lines are not feasible, and understand how to properly administer and manage fluids to maintain hydration and blood pressure in critical situations.
Endotracheal Intubation and Advanced Airway Management: Gain proficiency in securing the airway with endotracheal intubation, ensuring that canine patients receive proper ventilation during life-threatening emergencies.

Mid-Level Interventions

Junctional Hemorrhage Control and Chest Seals: Learn techniques for controlling severe bleeding in difficult areas, such as the neck, groin, and axilla, along with the application of chest seals to manage open chest wounds and prevent pneumothorax.
Splinting and Stabilization: Master the application of splints and other methods to stabilize fractures and injuries, ensuring proper immobilization and safe transport.
Needle Chest Decompression: Acquire the skills needed to perform needle chest decompression, a critical procedure to relieve pressure from a tension pneumothorax and restore normal breathing.

As a board-certified ER nurse with 9 years in human ER nursing and 10 years in veterinary ER, trauma, and ICU care, I've developed a deep understanding of critical care. My role as a TCCC CM/C instructor and an Air Force Reserves flight nurse with deployment experience further honed my trauma and prehospital care expertise. Driven by a passion for the health and welfare of working dogs and pets, I blend my diverse background in both human and animal emergency care to deliver impactful and effective medical training.
